Kaye,
Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique which I learned many years ago in a class. In that class, the energies flowing through my hands were reset so that healing energy would come through me from the universe. Now when I put the palms of my hands on any injured or painful place on myself, other people or animals, my hands get warm and the energy flows. When my hands cool down, the healing energy stops flowing and my hands cool down and feel "normal" again. If my tummy hurts, I put both hands on my tummy in a certain position, and it's very soothing. I can put myself to sleep this way. You can "reiki" your entire body to feel better as well as do a whole body reiki treatment on someone on a massage table. You can also feel by your hands' heat where you or someone else needs some healing energy. I also do healing touch and can tell where someone has an old injury or pain without the person I'm working on telling me anything. My hands just heat up.

This is the third time I have held an injured bird in my hands and none of the birds have attempted to peck me or struggled. A screech owl was going into shock but didn't and made it alive to an animal rehab unit and a hummingbird stunned by flying into a skylight, lay in my hands for an hour until he flew freely to freedom. I think the birds feel my hands' healing energy and know they are safe so they can relax and be peaceful. If you're interested, I'm sure you can find out more info as well as a class in your area. There are many levels of Reiki training. I did level I. It's a wonderful gift to oneself and a blessing to those around you.

Beautiful! And so many parallels to the pain we could save ourselves if we wouldn't struggle so much and started relaxing and trusting a bit more...
